Ray Lewis Is A True Leader

http://youtu.be/OUwNVTsJc_k

I was very critical of Ray Lewis on one of my previous blogs, mainly because he seemed to be so over the top to me.  I thought to myself that there was no way that this guy can be this animated and high-strung all the time.  He has an engine that never turns off no matter what the situation is.  I just figured that this could not be real.  Well I would like to say, “I was wrong”.

I know it may sound fake or insincere on my part, but after all of Ray Lewis’ speeches, he won me over with his speech to his teammates after they suffered a tough loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.  Let me also add that I was rooting for the Patriots for most of that game, but for the Baltimore Ravens to lose the way that they did really bothered me.  The Patriots didn’t win the game; the Ravens gave it to them. Now back to Ray.

After the game was over, Ray Lewis pulled his teammates together and told them in the most sincere fashion that I have ever heard anyone speak, “We win as a team and we lose as a team”.  Now I know that statement has been made hundreds or even thousands of times, but for some reason it just seemed different this time.  He also lifted up Joe Flacco and told him that he played his ass off.  I thought that was big of Ray to make Flacco feel good about himself especially since there had been so many negative comments about Flacco leading up to the game.  Flacco actually outplayed Tom Brady, now who would have thought that?

Ray Lewis may never read my blog or even care what Slab World Sports has to say about him, but I would like to apologize for what I wrote and say that after hearing that last speech, I got it.

Peyton Will Always Be Better Than Eli

There is no way that Eli Manning is better than Peyton Manning.  Have we forgotten how many MVP awards that Peyton has won?  Have we forgotten the fact that Peyton played with a mediocre team and made them championship contenders each and every season?  Let’s be real, if any GM could take Eli in his prime (which is right now) or Peyton in his prime, whom do you think the GM would take?  There is no doubt that the choice would be Peyton.

Eli Manning has been on the hot seat many times throughout his career.  Some people would probably try to attribute that to the fact that he plays in a tough city (New York) and that it is hard for anyone to play in New York.  That may be true, but I cannot recall a time when Peyton was ever on the hot seat.  I would always joke with my friends and say that the best job in the NFL is offensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts.

I honestly cannot even think of the guy’s name that runs the offense for the Colts.  As I type I can see an older gentleman with his glasses on his head while holding a play chart.  I seriously doubt that the play chart really meant anything to Peyton.  Whatever that guy’s name is, he would call a play from time to time, but Peyton changed it about 95% of the time, and no one cared.

The fact of the matter is that everyone either trusted or feared Peyton’s skills as well as his decision-making so much that they were sure that he had a good reason for calling whatever play he wanted to.  Now let’s take a closer look at Eli.  Who in their right mind thinks that Eli could get away with changing plays the way that Peyton did?  Sure there will be some Giants fans that would disagree with me right now; since Eli is playing good football, but the answer is not many.

Both guys are really good. Archie Manning is probably the most proud father in the world.  But it is cut and dry that Peyton Manning is the better of the two and arguably the greatest to ever play the position.  Yeah, that’s right, the best ever.
